Amcoe Sign Company Since 1936 - Signs & Designs is a small sign design and fabrication house in Fremont, CA.
In its early years in Palo Alto, Amcoe Sign worked closely with the well-known artisan community to provide exceptional design and quality fabrication.
When the original owner Robert "Bob" Neifing's health started to decline and he wished to sell the business, Stephen George Coulthard and Noel Marquis who were working at Blaze Signs in Fremont, CA, purchased the business in 1963.
Stephen Coulthard Sr. was the original sign designer for the "Doggie Diner Head" sign, a notable landmark figurehead in Northern California, while working at Blaze Signs.

We do not stock custom signs "off the shelf", they all have to be fabricated by hand, although we do have a Quick Ship Online Store for interior office signs.

All Exterior commercial sign projects require a Planning Division Permit and most require a Building Division permit.
How long does the City take to issue a sign permit required for a commercial sign project?
This varies by City, but it can take as little time as a 1 Hour meeting and we pull the permit "Over the Counter" or it may need to be submitted into the city and can take upwards of 2 months.
Amcoe Sign will typically not start fabrication until a Sign Permit has been issued by the City - The city has the authority to make drastic changes to your sign program and this will change fabrication and costs.
